BGC ARTS CENTER

Metro-Manila, Philippines

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City, on the eastern border of Metro-Manila, Philippines, aimed to establish a dedicated cultural venue to support the nation's growing arts scene. The challenge was to create a state-of-the-art performing arts center that would serve as a hub for artistic expression, community engagement, and cultural development in a rapidly urbanizing area.

The Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. (BAFI), in partnership with donors like Maybank Philippines, spearheaded the development of the BGC Arts Center, inaugurated in 2016. Designed by Casas + Architects, the center comprises three main venues: the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, the Alveo Central Plaza, and the Sun Life Amphitheater. The Maybank Performing Arts Theater houses the 500-seat Globe Auditorium, featuring retractable seating and a modular stage adaptable for various events. Additional facilities include the Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall for intimate performances and the Dolores L. Tan Hall for workshops and exhibitions. The Alveo Central Plaza and Sun Life Amphitheater offer outdoor spaces for community events, enhancing the center's versatility.

Since its opening, the BGC Arts Center has become a vibrant cultural hub, hosting a diverse array of performances, workshops, and community events. Its comprehensive facilities and strategic location have significantly contributed to the enrichment of Metro Manila's cultural landscape, fostering artistic growth and community engagement.
